Preparedness for Partly Sunny

There are a number of ways one can be prepared.  Not to make the subject too light (for it is a very serious subject that takes a careful and conscientious undertaking), it is sometimes good to look at a topic and have some fun with it, while still preserving the underlying fundamental purpose.

Preparedness begs the question of… for what?  You can’t be prepared for everything, but like a weatherman you can reasonably forecast that there will be snow (at least sometime in the winter).  And the weatherman can also forecast that there will be clouds from time to time.  Oh, wait, maybe they changed that terminology.  They have been saying “partly sunny” to be more upbeat and positive, for saying “partly cloudy” is a glass half-empty attitude.

Sit down and make a list of things that you need to be prepared for.  Do you need to prepare for a college education?  Make a plan to save.  Do you need to be prepared for a long business trip overseas?  Pack the right things and in the right amount, and memorize some vocabulary and phrases in the foreign language that won’t get you into any trouble.  Also prepare to stare blankly into space and turn into a statue if you repeat yourself 3 times and the locals still don’t know what you are talking about.  Do you need to prepare a presentation at work?  Get your ducks in a row and contemplate in advance what questions will be asked.  Role playing is preparedness.

Is your child prepared to face bullies on the playground?  If you have a timid child that may be prone to bullying because they are a bit different but, bless their heart, wouldn’t know how to respond to a malicious, taunting wise guy, approach the subject sensitively and give them some carefully-thought-out guidance way beforehand (like especially before junior high).

Preparedness can save one from embarrassment and ridicule, or resentment and frustration.  This leads us to the type of preparedness discussed in the video.  So without any further ado–
