The Water Storage Part of an Effective Food Storage and Emergency Preparedness Program
Today we watch as Hyrum demonstrates some pretty cool moves he has learned. He’s not gettin’ jiggy wid it, or doing the Hokey Pokey, or even wrappin’ with the boys; he is, however, showing us easy and straightforward methods of draining a water storage water barrel to gain access to the elixir of life– clean, and refreshing water.
Experts advise us that we should keep at least two weeks of water storage close at hand for emergencies, and that it should include one gallon of water per person per day. The use of this water storage would be for drinking, cooking, washing in, and other hygiene needs (like brushing your teeth). If food storage is important, water storage is doubly so. If there is any doubt as to the safety of the water, bleach can be added before drinking it in the amount of 1/8 of a teaspoon of chlorine bleach per gallon of water stored. As an additional safety measure, water may be boiled before drinking to eliminate microbial growth.

With all due respect, WATER STORAGE is a HUGE mistake. You’re faced with having to POISON the water to make it drinkable, or being sickened (or killed) by improperly-stored water.
A *far better* solution is to get a quality water filter, like the AquaRain, which will filter up to 32,000 gallons of water.
I think the purpose is not only to filter water but also to have as a supply. Aquarain is great if you have the water to filter. To many people assume such resources are available. In an emergency, water services may not work if you have city water and without electricity well pumps will not work. If you want to get fancy you can build an elaborate water filtration system complete with ultraviolet, charcoal and iodide filtration.
